It’s Free and Local!
A free monthly program where volunteer fixers and helpers get together to repair household items that community members bring in.

What:
- A free service where members of the community can bring their broken household goods for repair
- Repair categories include:
» Bikes / Prams / Trolleys
» Sewing
» Small furniture / General repairs
» Electrical / Electronic
» Data removal from laptops, tables, phones
» Leather shine
Who we are:
The repairs are done by skilled volunteers who care about the environment and want to share their skills with the community.
Our aim:
- Minimize waste to landfill by extending the life of belongings
- Strengthen local communities through face-to-face sharing of knowledge and skills about mending and repairing, often across age and demographics.
When:
Last Sunday of the month, from Feb to Nov, from 10am to 12 noon.
Where:
Studio 1 Community Hub, 15 Barnet Way, Richmond 3121
Examples of the sorts of items that might be suitable for repair at our sessions include:
- Clothing and textiles with holes or rips, or that need darning, hemming or overlocking. No alterations. No items requiring industrial sewing machines (e.g. leather or vinyl repairs).
- Small electrical appliances, such as kettles, toasters, turntables, lamps, amps, sewing machines, vacuums, clock-radios, blenders.
- Leather shoes, bags and jackets that need shining.
